subwoofer tensil leads broke

Hi,

First post.

Popped open a sealed box after a loss in sound, and found all four tensiles on one of the two 10" Orion XTR dual 4ohm subs "snapped".

They looked as if they were cut right in half.

The other subs tensils look like the "jacket" has started to "burn" away, but it still works fine.

They are powered by a JL 1000.1 J2 @ 1 ohm.

Havent seen this before.

Any ideas what caused this, and how to prevent it from happening again?

Ive seen them rip out before, but never right in the middle.

It was always at either end.

Still dont understand why they wouldnt make the tensils longer.

The system had only been in about 3 weeks.

I helped him do the install.

I just cant see that it was over pushed.

At 500rms/1000max per sub, and both subs sharing the 1000 watts from the amp......... well, I guess it can happen.
