I’ve been looking at various alarms and am planning on installing my first one as soon as school is out.

I want one that has a long range for in school or my apt.

The only one I’ve found that advertises a long range is Crimestopper 2015FM. Supposedly is has a range of .5 mile. Anybody have one? Is its range that good?

Anybody know of any other long range 2-way alarms?

We have had very good luck with the new Lynx 2000R systems. Line of sight range of 1/2 mile. Here's some specs:  http://www.velocitymotorsport.com/security/Lynx_2000.htm

I have the Crimestopper 2015Fm too. The range is great, exactly what they say it is and the two way remote works every time, unlike the alarm/starter I had before the CS.
I am very happy with it. My only grips would be the remotes are a little large and the LCD display on one remote has a black line from top to bottom, maybe from carrying it in my pocket.
On the plus side it has many options such as disabling the motion sensor from the remote, one pulse and one constant output and the ability to control two different cars with the same remote. It was a snap to install and has well a well written manual and installation instructions.
The expertise on this site helped me alot too.

Actually sometimes my remote acts up too nothing big though...just some pixels missing in the corner. You can also arm and disarm it with or without the siren chirp from the remote which is a big plus when you are sneaking in (that is if you still live with your parents long range 2-way -- posted image. ) Lifetime warranty too...doesn't matter how many different cars you switch it from...

You may as well look at this unit:
Commando FM-760
You can download the manuals to take a closer look.
This is the same unit as the Autopage 750LCD and the Marksman M10(Model # ?).

The Commando advertises a 2500 ft range.

But the autopage advertises a much shorter range...are they the same?

Do you have one and how is its range?

Also it says for automatics only, but thats only if you want to hook up remote start right?
