I have installed a Prestige APS-901 in a 2008 Jeep Patriot. I did it the old-fashioned way & didn't use a bypass module. Everything works fine, except that I get a horn chirp when remotely starting, after factory alarm is set.

I tried a ground pulse to keysense wire (second starter wire) (PURPLE / brown) with an 8.5K ohm resistor, but that didn't work.

Looking for ideas/solutions,

Thanks

One possible way is to open the horn relay output while GWR is active.

Soldering is fun!

That's a good idea. I could do that if there's no other solution.

Thanks

You probably dont want to.. but a PKUMUX from DEI will take car of all the MUX requirements AND that keysense/HONK issue.   Only drawback with interrupting the horn is you'd lose your panic while running on RS.

Are you sure the PKUMUX will stop the horn honk issue ? Reason i ask is i have a 2010 dodge ram with a 5901 & chall bypass that does the same thing .

I get a horn honk on disarm & remote starting & was told the only way it can be turned off is via the dealership & the starscan tool .

I dont remember the disarm honk.  But when I did my first new wrangler, that RS honk pis*ed me off, and I did the horn interrupt thing,  cause I could'nt stop it doing  the keysense resistance.  A few days later I got the PKUMUX's in and I've used them a bunch of times,   and no more honking.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I think maybe I didn't have the resistance just right for "keysense".

Next time I will use a PKUMUX.

The horn honk is from CANBUS when bypassing the Sentry system. Only way to bypass is relay interrupt or dealer scan tool.

So you are saying that the PKUMUX will not eliminate the horn chirp?

Yes, you have to use a relay or it back to the dealership to get it scanned out.
