My first post and I need some help with installing a Viper 211hv in my son's 97 Jetta. This will just be a keyless entry hopefully with parking lights flash and dome light. My problem is the lock on the transmitter works with one push of the button, but to unlock I have to press it three times for it to work. I've tried reprogramming it following the manual but I just can't get it. The manual is made for professional installers which I am not. Here's what i have as far as wiring.

Red to +

Balck to -

Yellow to ignition switch +

Blue/black to lock

GREEN/ black to unlock

Violet/black to +

Does anyone have an idea or step by step instructions in programming this? Any help is  appreciated.

Is this a Mk lll or Mk lV?
What colour are the car's lock and unlock wires, should be grey and green, shouldn't need programming, don't you have an instruction sheet?

Just follow the instruction manual, you need to follow from page 9, set the unlock to double pulse and switch on comfort close if you have factory power windows.
This unit is about as simple as they get, I would allow about half an hour for this job on this car.

The car is a MkIII and yes the lock unlock wires are grey and green. It's wired correctly it's just the programming that's got me stumped. The manual may be fine for a professional but not for the average person. This is my first time installing one so it's a learning experience.

I took you advice and started from page 9. Followed the instructions and did manage to get the transmitter to to unlock with just one push. I then made some changes to the features menu such as the comfort closure. I enabled it with no problem but when I tried to disable I can not. No matter what I do it will not go back to off. Here are the steps I took,

Turn the ignition on then off

pressed the valet button 7 times then one more time and held it down.

The led flashes 7 times, pauses, then 7 more times. This is where I don't know when to push the lock button on the transmitter. I've tried before, during, after the led flashes but it still won't work. The windows continue to go up and down when you press the lock, unlock buttons.

Also when I program the transmitters, I think the auto learn is what I want but again the manual does not give clear instructions on how to do it.

After I figure this out I still need to wire the horn and would like to wire the trunk popper. These also have me stumped. It looks like I may need a relay for the horn as the wire to connect it is negative and the horn is positive.

Your comments are not far off the mark, the magic word is patience unfortunately. Manually programming is not easy and you have to follow every step.
