I'm not sure how to ask this question; but let see if I can do it. I have a kenwood Excelon KDC-X591 HU that have 3 preamp outputs (sub, front and rear). If I want to use an equalizer and use the subwoofer signal of it instead of the one of the HU; will this signal be the same as the one from the HU?  The equalizer only has input for 2 channels and I will be using the front signal from my HU. Thank you.

There are a lot of things to take into account. First why would you want to run a eq with ths head unit, it has so many functions for audio detail control it's amazing. To your question no the signal will not be the same. You must think of the voltage it is putting out compared to your head unit. Frequency adjustment, noise level, harmonic distorion stuff like that. Your head unit is awsome I have the KDC-X592 and it's just great. Has the same exact fuctions as yours but probably updated or they added a couple of extra features I don't see a difference at all skimming through the manuals of yours and mine. Adding an eq would would just give you more frequencies to play with on the mids and highs. The sub output on your deck is great. I'm no amature. I have 2 degrees in electronics, one for basic technical and repair and the othe is for electronic engineering. I have allready designed 2 class D car amps that are getting ready to be marketed. Anyway hope this helps you decide.

Thank you skinnman; it would be like adding a bass restorer?
