Hi,
This is a multi-part question.
I currently have a Mazda 3, 2010, base model, So it does not come with a smart key (although the key has a chip in it). And does NOT come with power locks, but comes with power windows.
I bought:
CANMAX400DEI
Viper 5701
Trunk Power Actuator
Universal Door lock actuators.
Now, this is the first part of my question. According to xpresskit.com. There are two firmwares for the mazda 3, one for the Smartkey version, one for the one without. The one for the Smartkey version controls Everything through canbus. The one for the one without does not, only does bypass.
I tried emailing them, but they've not answered. What would happen if I flash it with the one for smartkey and use it on my car (that does not have one)? I can't imagine the canbus signals be that different.
Now, independent of what I do in the before-mentioned step, how do I wire the door locks? The Mazda3 uses a 1K Ohm resistor for their oem powerlocks and uses the same signal (with and without the 1K resistor). The aftermarket locks use a negative signal on either terminal. Would I wire the locks to the alarm and let the canbus control the rest? Do they work side by side or on-or-the-other?
Sorry if this is too much, but It's been hard trying to find answers to this.

flash it with the PROPER firmware based on whether it is smart key or not....  wire the locks up as a straight negtive trigger.....

Thanks for the reply, the other thing is that it's weird on they're webpage because depending on what link I choose, it will show the firmware available for the canmax400DEI and canmax400 or just the canmax400

depends on whether you search for all products or current products.... Canmax400DEI is discontinued..... and wont show up as a current product....

Ok, I still don't know if I should flash 1.05 or 0.08. So if someone can help me with that, that would be awesome. Also, I tried to make a spreadsheet with all the connections I think I need, I took info from several places, including this webpage. Can someone help me proofread it? Thanks a million. I hope it's ok to paste it here, if not, let me know and I'll upload an excel spreadsheet somewhere.

Have you pulled those doors to mount those actuators yet? I think you'll be in for a surprise if you haven't.
