First off thanks to anyone that can help me out!
Now, I just bought a viper 5701. Wanted it mainly for auto-start in the winter, and to have the proximity sensor being a convertible. I pretty much have the main part of the basic alarm hooked up(parking light flasher, siren, door switches, and antenna) Need help with the heavy gauge harness and possibly more.
About my car:
1991 cabriolet
Power windows
NON-power locks
NON-power top
NO trunk release
5 speed manual
as of right now i dont need to push the clutch in to start car
So when wiring the heavy gauge wires to my ignition which ones go where. my install manual only tells me where a few of the wires go on my car. I guess I'm confused with the relay thing. but I took a screen shot of the harness and put numbers to help you guys tell me which wires correspond to what or if I even use them. here ya go.

all anywhere I search tells me even from this site is this.
1986-92 Volkswagen Cabriolet Alarm, Remote Starter, Keyless Entry Wiring Information
Constant 12V+     Red           Ignition Switch Harness
Starter           RED / Black     Ignition Switch Harness
Ignition          Black        Ignition Switch Harness
Tach              Green        Coil
Brake Switch      RED / Yellow    Brake Switch
Trunk Pin        Brown (-)     Trunk Light
Parking Lights    Gray/Black R Gray/Red L at Light Switch
Hood Pin          n/a
Factory Disarm    n/a
Door Trigger      BROWN / White (-)      Driver's Pin Switch
Door Lock        n/a
Door Unlock       n/a
Also wondering about the sensitivity of the whole shock sensor? if that's what causes the alarm to go off if someone kicks your car.. Because I'd like to turn that all the way down lol.
later on I'd like to figure out how to properly wire up my train horn to it so I can make it go off once when I push an aux button or something, but one thing at a time.
Thanks again

1) to black, ignition switch lead or rear of fuse box.Ign sw. wires go to fusebox.
2) Red at ditto or fuse box constant feed.
3) N/A Unless you have a thin BROWN / red at the ignition switch.
4/5) Cut the RED / black, purple(violet) to key side, green to starter side.
6) As 2.
7) Ignition 2, BLACK / YELLOW positions as 1.
8) not sure.
9) As 2.
Your trunk trigger is wrong, check the factory switch, it should be BROWN / red*. Oh and use a hood switch. I think the brakes should be BLACK/ red, test at back lights or switch.
You will do this job much quicker if you remove the centre console and the crossways under dash bolster.
*Double check door and trunk trigger switches, if original they will have corroded out by now.
Adding central locking to the doors isn't difficult but it's fiddly, I've also done trunk releases on these, you only need a door actuator.

Setting the shock sensor should be in the owner's manual.

.
*(2) Ditto? just a constant 12+?
*(4)(5) If I dont want to do a starter kill do I just solder both wires to the RED / black?
*(6)(9) again ditto? just a constant 12+?
*(7) is going to the same wire as (1)?
Pretty much the flex relay that is built in made it more complicated and therefore you have multiple wire that go to the same wires, because I dont have a second ign, or starter?
sorry I like to fully understand things, even if it dose still work in the end. lol

Sorry read my first post again. THERE ARE TWO IGNITIONS.
Plain black is the important one, the second yellow black runs heater, wipers etc. etc.
2)YES.
4/5) Just connect Viper GREEN to your RED / black starter wire.
6/9) YES.
7) NO!!! read the last post.
