I apologize for being very green in the electronics dept.
I'm working on installing power windows in the front doors of my car. I have all the motors/ regulators etc. I just picked up a set of window switches from a 2000 something mazda protege. I'm trying to figure out if they require a relay or if they are designed to carry a heavy load.
How would I figure this out?

When in doubt, use a relay and fuse the power wire at a lower rated fuse.

yeah better safe then sorry! Only factor that keeps me from just running relays is that that takes 4 relays, and the best price I've found them for around here is a little shy of 10 bucks, and This college student gig I'm doing right now doesn't pay well :).
The switch will only reside about 4 inches also so relays will not save much in larger guage wiring.
I'm currently looking for a wiring diagram for a 1998 mazda protege. I found some other year diagrams where it looks like they're wired direct. I def wanna make sure before i proceed with this project.

I installed factory power windows in my truck and used only one 30/40 amp relay. It was only for the front 2 windows. Everything works fine. Just use like 12-14 gauge wire too.
