i have just bought a astrostart rs 613 but there is no install manual to speak of.  i have scoured the web but cannot seem to find one either im about to give up and return it for a different model if no one can help. 

Im installing it in an 89 chevy k1500 power locks, dont think anything else really applies but am looking for all the help i can get.

Its a great unit... how did you manage to get one WITHOUT an install guide? If you purchased it from an authorized dealer just get the guide from them.

well it came with a wiring diagram and program guide.  the dealer said it was everything i needed to install it but seems to be lacking i guess.  the main parts i need help with is the programming .  the guide it came with doesnt show what the tach signal needs to be set at for the rpm.  the door locks i figured out on this site but still would like some help with it

oh and there is nothing on how the antenna needs installed.  where it is best placed and what the little thin strips on the lid are for.  i assume they stick to the glass and the antenna touches them for better signal but not sure

You are correct on the antenna install. get it up to the middle of the vehicle's wind screen if you can.
