Fist let me say I've done some extensive searching & posted my question 3 days ago in a preexisting related thread however I didn't get any replies (perhaps because the thread was old).
I installed a Viper 5902 and mounted the control center (combined LED/valet switch/antenna module)above the mirror on the windshield. I don't feel that the LED is very visible there so I'd like to add a second LED that will operate simultaneously with current one.
I've tested the 6 pin harness going to the control center and found that I need to use the red(+)and pink(-) from that harness to power the second LED. I'd like to wire them in parallel rather than series so as not to affect the brightness of them however, after some searching it seems that it's recommended to wire DEI LEDs (up to a max of 5) in series. I did find one thread suggesting that a max of 2 in parallel would be fine but I'd like to verify this.
The DEI LED (p/n 909235) I plan to add draws 170mA at 5V and the control center one should draw the same or less however I don't know the max current load of the LED output port on the 5902.
Anyone know the max output? Can I run the 2 in parallel safely without frying the LED output?
Thanks

Much better thanks, assuming your other LED is a single unit.

No worries, it looks like you and Howie have already provided the answer.

Two LEDs in parallel are safe on the 5902, got it. Thank you for the confirmation.

Glad to hear it.
It is a single DEI 5V LED. One of these:

its been ages since i have seen that type of clifford LED, all the new units have them build into the antenna and whatnot.

but that will be fine. No more than 2 if they are 5volts a piece.

The one you showed is perfect we still use them here on our Cat 1 alarms, it will turn your car into a strobe light at night.
