I am having problems with my flip down unit. Its the stlye that flips out and down when you turn it on. The problem is that when it is cold out the scren will flip out like its suppose to then immediatly fold half way up and go back in. It pretty much jams itself in there. I can hit the power button but it just moves a little then goes right back in. It will do this until its nice and warm in the truck.
The second part is that once it is out if you try to adjust the panel to go all the way down then it will immediatley fold up and shut down (like its supposed to when you turn it off intentionally). Please help guys.

Is this a new unit still under warranty?  If so take it back wherever you bought it.  If not, see if a shop in your area can take a look at it for you.  You may be about ready to buy a new head unit, however, and I recommend one that does not use a motorized face plate (those things fail all the time.)

No its not new. Its about 6 years old. It worked great for a few years then about a year ago it started this. If I take it to a shop the will probably charge me enough to just buy a new one.
I was hoping other people have tore into these and had experience trying to fix them. I have heard of a ribbon cable that goes bad but can't find much about it.

I am not familiar with this particular deck.  But it sounds as though the ribbon cable is failing.  I have replaced many ribbon cables on other Kenwood models.  You can get the part from Pacific Coast Parts.   pacparts.com or 1-800-421-5080.  This is probably nothing you are going to want to change yourself. The part number is J84-0154-15 and it sells for 13.00 plus shipping.  I get between 60 and 80 dollars for the labor portion of the job.
