2003 kia spectra

I've got a remote start to install in a 03 Spectra. I have reviewed the info found on this site here: https://www.the12volt.com/installbay/forum_posts.asp~TID~23965 My question is whether or not there is some kind of key immobilizer? According to what I can find, there isn't, and the owner also states that there is none- but I want to be certain. And since this site rocks!, I figured someone here would know. I also seen that the tach signal is obtained via dlc. I'm assuming that it is in the same spot as other vehicles...left side Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the reply. I checked the website, but unfortunately it has no info on the 03.

if fortin doesnt have it listed, most likely no bypass is required.Ted

Thanks again for the reply. I double checked that site and there is no listing for the 03. It starts at 05. I guess the only way to know for sure is install it lol. The autostart site shows the TB-350 module, but who knows...I'm sure I'll figure it out quick enough.

just go get a key cut from crappytire and if you can start the car you know there is no immobilizer.Ted

i thought most all Canadian kias/hyundais had chipped keys?? At least on newer ones... or did it start after a certain year?A DMM is a beautiful thing.

I installed it last night, and just so everyone knows..this Spectra did not have a chipped key. Thanks for all the replies....
