"Disarm by factory remote only"  Had a 05 ponitiac GTO that i had to disarm with the factory remote before i could unlock with the viper 5901 because it was bypass by RF only.  my question is..... does this make the SmartStart application (or really any aftermarket system) useless because obviously the factory remote has a MUCH shorter distance???

if you have disarm by factory remote, there are 2 ways to disarm the system.

1) get a data module (most likely idatalink) will have the better solution

2) power up keysense, ignition at the same time and it will also disarm.

Solution- Don't use your factory remote anymore. Arm and disarm are done through the factory remote only. The 5901 has its own alarm. Hook up locks and unlock as normal.
Your immobilizer however controls if you can remote start it. Being RF with no data bypass out there you should go with the 556U. However, you will lose a key that will go inside of the bypass. So you can go with the smartstart.

it had passive arm on the car. so after a certain amount of time it would arm automatically when you locked the doors (even with the aftermarket remote). dont know if that is some programing issue that the dealer can fix. im not to sure.
