Can a fuel injector be a unreliable sorce of tach?

I just installed a viper 5901 in a 2010 ford edge and I used the uncomon non blue wire of the fuel injector

for my tach.  The viper programed right up and all was good started great untill the next day the car would start

for a bit then shut off I tried to reprogram the tach learn and this time that wouldnt work so I switched to voltage sence

and the car started right up go figure?

Tho it is a pulsed output, i have found they just don't always work(my own Dodge Caravan for example). It is the wire Directechs calls for...

Any one tried either crankshaft or camshaft positional sensor at the engine management, or the best place, tach at the gauges if it is wired i.e. non data.
Thank goodness BMW and Toyota/Lexus give you a wire on the diagnostic socket (OBD 11)

I prefer the back of the tachometer except most modern cars have a chip for the instrument panel and tach is multiplexed with other functions, I've had slight grief with VW and Euro GM, their (very similar) systems don't seem to like injector pulse pick ups, they then get rough idling and pick-up and/or stalling.
