thanks all. the horn is resting at +12v. it goes to 0 when honked. jumpering the wire to ground honks the horn, so i assume i have the right wire. it is an orange wire at pin1 in the 20 pin white harness.
question - since this circuit rests at +12v, is there any harm to the alarm from the feedback that will come from this wire? i know it will work because it will send the ground pulse to trigger the alarm, but any reason for concern that otherwise the alarm will always see +12v on the horn wire?
thanks

how are you testing this wire?

you can always place a diode inline if in doubt

neg of meter to ground; pos to wire

what would the arrangement of the diode be if i want to block +12v on one side and allow the ground pulse from alarm on the other?
im not opposed to putting in a diode, i'm just wondering if the DEI alarm is ok with the feedback (or if I somehow have the wrong wire)

Need your positive lead to go to 12V and your negative lead to go to the suspected wire. Then press horn and should show 12V.
