Nothing. If all you want is the radio and not anything else follow the second diagram.

Hmmm....don't you mean keep the deck on until the door is OPENED?  Like the Retained Accessory Power feature of many GM cars and so on?

Oh I miss read that as well. What you can do for that is wire a latching relay to a momentary switch and use the door closing as a shut down. Basically when you want the radio on you would push the switch with the door open and the radio would stay on as long as the door remained open, and when you closed the door then the radio would shut off.Deck on till door close? - Last Post -- posted image.
For the ground of the relay on the right use another relay that would isolate your door from the circuit, so basically wire a relay like this; 85 door trigger(-), 86 12V fused, 30 ground, and 87 output to the ground of the relay on the right(86 of relay on the right). This way you door trigger will be isolated so if something happens it won't affect you cars computers.

I suppose basically it's gotta have three relays, acting sequentially, the pin ground activating the first stage, and then pin open activating the second stage, that shuts off the latched relay powering the deck..

but the wiring defies me..

on the second diagram what is it referring to when it says radio accessory wire? is that the accessory wire in the steering column or the switched power on the radio?

Radio's accessory lead refers to the switch power lead going to the radio and is the same as the Red wire in the radio harness diagram shown on this page: https://www.the12volt.com/request/request2.asp
