My best friend's little brother called me today after he got done with installing a new kicker zx750.1 and a kicker CVX subwoofer(he has no idea what he is doing and insists on ruining good equipment trying to figure it out). He is running these off of a kenwood kdc-x949 headunit. Subwoofer sounds fine except for when the stereo is paused or volume is at zero the sub still throbs in and out very violently. The problem ceases when the RCA's are unplugged which makes me believe that he grounded out his RCA's on the deck. However i thought this is more of a problem with pioneer stereo's than any others. How do i remedy this problem?

If it stops when you unplug the rca's then you probly just need to replace them.
First check the ground on both the head unit and the amp. Also make sure the rca's and main power are not run directly next to each other to the amp.

the biggest concern of mine is that everything worked fine and well before he replaced his old amp. I had him try running a new set of RCA's outside of the vehicle and the problem persisted. I have not seen the installation perfectly but as I said it did work before he put this new amp in.

Well the only thing I know to tell you is what I already Said about checking the ground wires.
Maybe someone else might have a better idea.

was probably bad ground when new amp hooked up, or hooked up power and rca before grounding the amp and blew fuse inside deck for rca.
