Long story short, I bought a 5701 refurb from an "unauthorized" dealer. I had it installed in my 2007 Silverado at Best Buy. It lasted a week, then started acting up, so I took it back to Best Buy and the installer said the brain box was bad and needed replaced. So I can't get Viper to replace it of course, and the place I bought it from is being a pain and won't replace it, only wants to give me a refund...but the refund is not near what these cost new, and I really don't want to buy a refurb again after this mess. I was hoping to find a model thats cheaper that will hook up to the wiring that is already in my Silverado from the 5701 (the installer only unhooked the brain box, he left everything else alone). Just a simple remote starter would be fine, I don't need the alarm (would actually prefer to not have that annoying thing). Any advice? And thank you very much in advance!

What is the actual problem with it? We may be able to go around it and make it work...

Well I've already sent it to the place for a refund, but it got to where it wouldn't remote start even after being reset, and the alarm would go off if i went over a bump like railroad tracks or something. The installer tested it and said the brain box was bad, so thats the only part he took out for me to try to get a replacement for. So now I'm trying to find a cheaper model that i can buy new that will hook up to the wiring already in place. Thanks so much for your time!

Although the problem is resolved with zimmerz i would still appreciate some feedback or atleast some information to have on the subject. I too purchased a refurb version but have yet to install the product on my car so before i do i would like to have some references to help guide me for anything that will or can go wrong
