if i have a battery bank in the rear is it safe to run my ground from the amp to the negative terminal of my battery bank?

I was going to ask why else the battery would be there?
You want the least resistance between the amp and the battery.
And unless (eg) battery - terminal - cable - eyelet - bolt - chassis/body_to - amp_cable_eyelet - cable - amp_ground is a lower resistance than the (eg) battery - terminal - cable - amp_ground resistance/impedance.... (Hence ImaIdiot's question, but the amp's battery should be close to the amp...)
