Hi Everyone, can anyone tell me how to program a key for a 2000 Honda Accord. We have the two original keys; however, we had misplaced them so last weekend we had a locksmith create a new key and reprogram it to our car; however, now the older keys do not start the car. Does anyone know how to re-program the older keys to work with the new programming?
I've seen this instructions online, but didn't want to try it until I confirm with the experts of 12Volt.
1
Enter your car and put your transponder key into the ignition.
2
Turn the ignition "On," press the Lock button on the key and then cycle it back "Off." Repeat this step two more times.
3
Cycle the key back to the "On" position, press the Lock button on the remote again and wait for the locks to automatically cycle on and off.
4
Turn the ignition key back to "Lock" and remove the key to end the process.
Would this work?

Try the lock button on the door instead?

That is what I'm planning on using, the lock button on the door.

Sorry, no other way to program a key to your car than to have an authorized locksmith or dealership with an immobiilizer card and a pgm-fi tester do it.  You could always have the locksmith who made your replacement key reproram all your keys to work, they would probably do it on the cheap.

The locksmith you contacted to make the key should program them for you. Its gonna be way cheaper than the local Honda dealer

Unfotunately the locksmith is in VA where we misplace the keys and I'm in NJ. Went to a local Honda Dealership... and they programmed both my keys + 1 that was working (so 3 keys total) for $20.00 + tax for all three keys.
