range rover sport hse 2011 wiring

I have a tracking/telematic device to fit to a brand new Range Rover sport Hse . Does anyone have any wiring info especially for the 12v whilst cranking or a true run (12v only whilst running) wire colours . I have been told that there is a tow bar plug prewired in the rear quarter panel but could not see it at a quick look , can anyone help please ????Car Audio,Security,Cellular and Multimedia Specialists.

The only way you will get what you want is a latching relay from the starter wire. Why would you need that? The GPS will tell you if it's moving. Left hand rear panel on the Sport will give you constant, ignition and ground (earth and a decent hidden mounting for the unit and external antennas if any.

I would clarify this with the manufacturers/importers, that sounds more like a tach signal to me, by the way define true idle? On start-up in the winter? Summer? In gear? Neutral? No such thing!! With ref to tach, Sailes Marketing, will give you tach, VSS ignition etc, but it adds about £60 to your parts bill. I've installed at least 4 major brands and all they ever needed were +, - and ignition or ACC +

I would also add that it's much easier on that vehicle to pull off a rear panel rather than remove front end components.

I am with you on that one ,they are classing a true idle as a wire that runs 12v only whilst the engine is running ,but this wire will have no power on it through the full ignition key switch location (ie ..something that only has power whilst the engine runs but seperate from the normal ignition) . I understand what you are saying about the tacho wire but this would have variable voltage and not be a constant 12v.. I will go for the fuel pump relay in the rear quarter panel. I might be wrong but on modern engines the fuel pump acts as a primer and with a tach sense controlled by the engine management and shuts off as soon as idle speed is detected. Mk1 and 2 Astras had a HRW system that only worked on engine run, I can't think of anything else. Again if this vehicle is Push to Start you've got even more problems as it's ALL CAN data. I did a phone kit on a late Freelander and had to go down to between the seats to find an ignition wire (no ACC).
