Greetings all. I've been away from the industry for a while, having not been active since graduating college in 2002 and leaving my installer job. I've continued to do installs on all my personal vehicles, anything form remote starts to amps to sub enclosures to custom dashes, and I'm currently negotiating on a 2011 Tundra crewmax. I'm very interested in getting a new double din receiver once I take delivery, but I'm unfamiliar with the current line of available products. My first choice would be the Alpine INA-W900, but it seems steep in price for what I want (I don't care about navigation). I am going to run a couple amps (4 channel and a sub amp) and use my iphone for music as desired (and video would be preferred). My second choice, after perusing a few retailers, is the Sony XAV72-BT. But I have no experience on user interface, ease of use, reliability, etc. What are the current hot options from those of you who deal with them on a daily basis?

Give JVC a look. Their products have caught up and in some cases surpassed all others. Some of the AV units can seem a little cheap still. Alpine is still one of the best for sound quality, but is probably the worst for features/price.

Pioneer and kenwood arent bad either! I prefer JVC and Kenwood

To master and control electricity is perfection. *evil laugh*

thanks for the response, racerjames. I've been looking at all of the name brands, hoping to narrow in on one that's completely touch screen. I think those look a little cleaner. I'll go peek at the JVC. Anyone else have thoughts?

I also agree with racerjames76 about JVC. I especially like that most JVC double dins are detachable faceplate. I own 2 jvc units and I'm in the process of replacing my Kenwood with a 3rd JVC double din. Although the Sony XAV72-BT looks tempting. In my opinion just study the features you want, theres no need to pay extra for options you wont use, like navigation, blue tooth, etc, most units nowadays offer good ipod interface with minimal extra equipment to buy. happy shopping
Go BIG or go Home                                    it might not be broke, but lets fix it anyway
