88 corvette

Working on a 1988 corvette.  He had someone install a JVC KD-AR760.  Well the harness got hacked up.  It would not hold a programed station.  So I meter everything, pulled the wiring off this site.  It has the bose system in it.  Factory I have no idea, as they put a 97 front clip and rear on the car and who knows what else.

So in my metering I did not find a constant power.  what i did find was..

orange was powering the mids and highs amp.

pink was the amp turn on for the mids amp

I added a wire to the fuse box to get a constant power, worked great.  its been one day, now the battery is dead.  Has not touched it since I have worked on it.

Any ideas?

It is hard to say without looking at what is there, but it sounds as if a different factory bose amp has been added to an older car?

In general it is easier to remove factory stuff and run wires directly to each speaker. However, in a Vette, this is usually easier said than done. Space is limited, so adding a full size 4 channel amp isnt always practical either. There is a piece by Alpine called the KTP-445 That does essentially what your bose amp does.

I suspect that amp or its hacked install is causing the issue. It is best when working on an old car that has seen more than one previous hack job to just remove it all, and start over. Trace all of the headunit wiring, and remove whatever doesnt look factory, and if whats left doesnt give you the right signals, start over by running new wires. Pretty simple in theory. Good luck!

ya I connected it to the radios yellow.   I went back out and looked at the car again.  I removed the constant I added, but before I did the radio turned on by itself.  I was just siting in the passenger seat messing with my phone and it turned on.  So something is wired wrong, or could it be the head unit it self?
