I wouldn't even touch it with out the compustar piece! There's to much that can go wrong in those cars. Defiantly don't use a test light what ever you do. Make 100% sure of a wire before hooking it up because if you accidentally send ground or 12v down a can wire your going to be replacing A LOT more than a remotes start, it will have to spend some time in the Mercedes dealership

Exactly!!!
A friend's company installed a tracking device in a then new S class couple of years ago, pretty simple yes? Rear install, antennae in either light fitting or bumper, battery at rear along with aux fusebox for ign. trigger, hell I've done that myself on BMW, Chrysler 300C.
Wrong, electrical system failure blamed my friend's firm £12,000 ($18,000) bill. Obviously they fought it and won but we've all been there, falsely blamed, do you as a one man band need that?

Also X 2 with coolmankyle! They also did a Sprinter where that particular tracker (non CAN) needed an analogue driver's door trigger.
No info on M/B Sprinter but I gave them the info from Dodge Sprinter, same vehicle and said it's in the door or drill yourself a new pin switch! The idiot went to a CAN wire (yes honestly!)

Yea, I'm extremely careful when testing wires. On anything newer its DMM ONLY. On the older cars I'll sometimes use my Blue Point computer safe test light, but only on older cars (don't feel like taking the chance). The compustar piece looked like a simple plug and play with no wire connections required.... but doubt he's going to go with that option.. lol.

If he doesn't go with that option he doesn't have ANY options. Why do YOU think it's so expensive?

Oh I know... I just don't think he wants it that much... lol. I can't say that I would spend that kind of money if I had a Mercedes. I'd live with walking my *** out to start it.. lol.
