Hello All,

Does anyone know what BitWriter version is needed to program the 5301? I have one on the way that has 2.7, but I was seeing something about a CMOS upgrade too???

According to the manual, it only needs version 2.5 or better. Hopefully if you ordered a 2.7 version, it has both chips upgraded. I orded a 2.7 version recently and it was upgraded.

you need the eprom upgrade too. version 2.7 and the 3 pin cable

You say it needs version 2.7, its supposed to come with 2.7. Does it need any other hardware if it comes with 2.7?

there is the little square chip which is 2.7 but you need also the big green memory looking chip replaced also. it needs it for the newer remote starts and alarms.

Ahh ok, that is what I was trying to clear up. Is there a specific version i should be looking for?

there is just a new version of it. i don't think it has a version number. ebay should have it.
