I am installing a remote start in a 2004 jeep grand. I have in my hand a xk531.  Is it worth purchasing a dlpk?  Any beniefits using a new interface vrs the discontinued one?

The DLPK works on 2005 thru 2009 Grand Cherokees.  It is not listed for the 2004.   While the XK531 is a transponder type bypass, it is in your hands and ready to go.

The main benefit of the newer bypass modules is their Data style bypass vs the older chip / antenna style .   ( My preference would be an iDatalink ADS DL flashed with ADS DL CH6. )  With the 1999 - 2004 G.C.'s, anything that handles the door locks / alarm is a blessing.

Soldering is fun!

I aslo have the option to use the blade.  I would have to purchase the cable, blade and  antenna.  Is it worth it?

The new generation of combo unit for Chrysler replacing the XK531 and XK532 are called:

DLPKCHG1 for the 1st generation transponder (XK531)

DLPKCHG2 for the 2nd generation transponder (XK532

Yes, you're right.  The DLPKCHG1 will work.  Funny, DEI doesn't even list it as

"Retired" when you look up the 2004 Jeep G.C.  Not too much different from the
XK531, it is still a transponder / antenna type unit.

Don't think it is worth the expense to buy a Blade AL and USB cable.  Plus you must

register an account with ADS to flash the Blade cartridge ( if you aren't already ).

The only other reason to use a newer Data style module is if you don't have the

required two working ignition keys to program the XK531 or DLPKCHG1.  The ADS DL /
Blade AL will program with just one working key.

Soldering is fun!
