also if i manage to get some logon credentials can i do this on the bench with power supplied from usb or do i need to have 12v supplied to the main connector?
Thank You

You can flash the Blade cartridge ( and update the Compustar brain, if necessary ) with just the ADS USB cable plugged into the brain, on the bench.

Soldering is fun!

I believe with idatalink you have to have an account which they will only approve if you have an installation shop. I believe its to help prevent the back yard hack from damaging their vehicle and going after idatalink (although that is all 100% speculation, I have no affiliation with them and could be completely off.. haha)

a regular account works, just connect the ads usb and go to weblink. it will ask for firmware selection and let it flash. only when you want the cmxxxx flash specific then you need a dealer account.

Gotcha. When I was testing things out a few days ago (didn't have a module actually connected) it kept bringing me to the login screen. It must be different when you have an actual module connected.
