96 ram 1500 5.9 Extended cab
I am trying to hook up my bulldog 500 to control my door locks. I have read several posts on how to hook up the wires but each one confuses me because they are not all the same. Bulldog says I have type C door locks. Can anyone tell me what relays, if any, that i need and how to hook them up. The bulldog website doesn't say anything about using relays but some other sites do.

I'm almost positive that the 96's had the 5 wire door locks. You will need 2 relays and the diagram on here for 5 wire / reverse polarity.

If your system is the one listed here. You need 2 standard Bosch type automotive relays, they can be found online, at any car stereo shop, or most car part stores. Or you can use something like the DEI 451M.
Type C is the five wire type, shown both in the Bulldog install manual and found here.
Installer, IT support, and FFL. I need less hobbies.

I hooked the relays up and the driver side door works with the remote and the door switch. The passenger door switch works but not through the remote. I figured the passenger side wouldn't work when i was hooking it up but i didn't wand to pay another $22 for two more relays. Is there a way around making the passenger side work with the remote without adding two more relays.

Recheck your wiring carefully. I did my brothers Ram 1500 and needed only two relays.  It is a bit confusing for us DIYer but it does work.

Document 1041 has an excellent discription of the door lock systems that might help.

The wiring is all correct. I did just notice that the passenger side lock switch only works for the lock function and not the unlock. Could a bad switch make it not work through the remote?

I would put it back together to make sure the door switches work correctly. Then follow the steps on page 6 of Document 1041 for locating the motor wires.
