Just finished installing a new Compustar FT6000AS in my 2003 Taurus.  The unit replaces an older model Crimestopper Cool Start RS unit.  All I had to do was snip the old wires and replace them with the Compustar harness and unit.  I'm having a problem with sensing tach with the CM6000.  The old Cool Start unit worked great sensing tach using the tan and yellow wire near the car's PCM.  I tried to learn the tach with the Compustar but it just gives me a three flash code followed by three more flashes. I assume this means tach learn was un-successful?  I can remote start the car, but the starter keeps running and grinding the flywheel.  I have to hit the brake pedal to stop it from repeatedly trying to engage the starter.  A freind of mine is suggesting my cm6000 may not be set to default, tach sensing, and might be set to alternator sensing from the factory.

I also need to know the proper wire and setting used for domelight supervision.  I have a relay already set up to except a negative trigger.

Thanks for any help.

default is tach sense, but it maybe have been changed down the road.
just go into programming and change it to tach again and try to reprogram the tach.
program tach:
start car, step on brakes and hold, press start on the remote. one chirp indicates successful learn of tach.

With the op500, I verified the setting in 2-10 engine sensing is set to 1 tach.  For what ever reason, the cm6000 is not seeing my tach signal from the tan with yellow striped wire located on the Taurus main loom next to the intake manafold.  Can someone advise me of an alternative wire (injector?) to receive this signal to shut down the starter?  And, is the violet wire used for dome light supervision?  I need a (-)  trigger wire for a relay that will stay on for 30 to 40 seconds.  I set POC 9 ((-) Au 1 Violet)) to the 9 setting but the relay is not triggering with this setting with the violet wire..

do you have tach connected to yellow/black on the cm6000?
switch it over to voltage sense just to see if it will start. if not you have other issues besides tach .

OK, I switched the yellow/black to one of the three yellow wires (yellow/blk)  just before the coil pack plug and now it learns tach. It starts up now with just a slight hint of over starting/grinding.  I think I will give an injector wire a try next.  I think I had to use an injector wire on a Ford in the past.

I still need to know what color wire to use, and how to get a (-) trigger for dome light supervision.

that's not normal, i rarely have a compustar that doesn't get perfect starter release.
try tach: orange / YELLOW (AC) or Yellow/any colour
Dome supervision is BLUE/WHITE at parking light switch, May also be light GREEN/ Red on 6cyl Models.
connect the purple wire POC 9 program for option 9, and connect directly to vehicle.
go to option 3-02 (Dome light output) program for Option setting 3

Tedmond, Yes, I find it strange too since i'm replacing a perfecly functioning Crime Stopper R/S only unit. Just to clarify, I DO NOT need a relay for the dome light supervision? Just fasten violet to my blue/wht wire that was used for dome light supervision WITH relay, on the Crime Stopper unit? Thank You!!!

you wont need it, but it never hurts to connect one just to be on the safe side.
ive done many cars with dome supervision and never used a relay, just diode and it works.

Tedmond, it worked like a charm.  I already had a dome light relay in place from the old R/S. Works great now. Push unlock and the light comes on. A big THANKS!!

I just remote started it and it sounded just fine with no run-on or grinding, and i'm using a yellow w/black stripped wire at the coil pack plug.  I'll keep it that way for now as long as it works. Thanks again!!!
