Never had to do one of these, but every guide says it has to be done.
Can someone explain why and is it difficult to get at the wiring under the hood.
Does not having the relay only allow it to start in gear on some vehicles? Can it cause the starter to stay engaged. I have one coming back that stopped working and the customer told me that once the car was running and the starter was still engaged.
ADS-AL(DL)-NI2 firmware
Thanks

its a neutral saftey relay.
it will only allow remote start in PARK and in NEUTRAL.
on push to starts, its actually starter2 and needs to be done when using idatalink products.

I don't think the underhood relay should have anything to do with the starter staying engaged. The relay is really easy to install, takes an extra 10 minutes maybe, and it eliminates the vehicle lurching forward upon remote start as well as eliminates inconsitencys in starting. Are you using tach, voltage or v-tach?  Have engine checking turned on?  Would help to know what unit you installed as well.

When did they change that?  I did one using the Xpress DB-ALL and it was still required.  Actually, if you go to fortins website and look under the manuals they actually show the Sentra as needing the relay installed under the hood.

if you had the updated version 4 modules from fortin, you dont need the relay under the hood. btw this thread is about a versa not sentra.
and this module (v4 specifically) has been out for some time now.
