receiver compatibility: replacing oem

Hi there, first time poster from India here. I recently bought a 2004 Hyundai Accent and was planning on swapping the OEM receiver for a new receiver. The OEM receiver is a Pioneer SuperTuner III model single DIN model KEH 1450 tape deck. I was planning on buying a Dual XDMA6415 receiver in the US and having a friend send it over to me (its the cheapest bluetooth equipped receiver I've found with good reviews - http://www.amazon.com/Dual-XDMA6415-200-Watt-Receiver-Bluetooth/dp/B00012O6QQ/ref=sr_1_5?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1338019506&sr=1-5 ). The Dual is also a DIN 1 receiver. Amazon's car compatibility checker tells me that the Dual is not compatible with a 2004 Hyundai Accent. Can any of you shed light on why Amazon would say it is incompatible? Also, is there any reason for me to check if a US-purchased receiver would work in a foreign-made car? Appreciate any thoughts or advice!

It is the cheapest for a reason. Save a few dollars and get an Alpine, Sony, Pioneer, JVC or Kenwood. I have no idea what you are paying, but I have an Alpine W/Bluetooth Streaming and Hands Free Phone for 180.00.   A Pioneer same BT features for 160.00 These are Retail prices. You can probably get a little cheaper On-Line. Whatever money you are spending on the dual could have just as well been set on fire.

Thanks for the input. I should clarify, this car is a beater that I plan to use for less than a year before I leave the country, so I'm not looking for a long-term, quality setup. I'm also on a very tight budget. This receiver is selling for $65 and the reviews are actually pretty good on the system too, so I'm not really worried about the quality aspect. I just wanted to get people's opinions on whether there are any variables apart from the DIN size that could make a stereo receiver incompatible with a given car model. If the KEH 1450 was in there, the dual (or any of the others that I mentioned) will go in as well.

The problem with using Dual for even a short time is you'll have to listen to it.  They really do sound bad (as well as not lasting very long.)Support the12volt.com

I agree, the quality will be cr@p, but unfortunately the budget's the budget (im currently unemployed)! Yes, I do have a lighter.
