subs not putting out

So I had two ten inch powerbass subs in the trunk of my wrx powered by a boss amp. One day I was driving and my headunit restarted a couple times and stopped playing my subs. So I thought the amp quit or the subs were blown so I got a new setup. Two 12 inch kicker 07dcv122's powered by a 1700 watt hifonics amp and the system in not putting out much power at all. My two power bass tens were hitting way harder. I have 4 gauge wore going into the amp. So I'm not sure if it's the headunit or what's going on. Thank you in advance.

Unhook one of the subs, does it play loud now?

I cannot unhook one of the subs because the SUbs are in a custom kicker box running at 2 ohms

Disconnect the wires from the amplifier, While watching the speakers, briefly touch the speaker wires to the power and ground wires of the amp and see if both speakers move the same direction. Nothing connected to the speaker output terminals of the amplifier, and notice briefly.

sounds more like a headunit problem to me.

if it "restarted" on its own it may have gone back to a default lower sub woofer level control within the head unit.

what brand AND model is your head unit?

so you are sure the sub out is still turned on and the sub level isnt 0 or 1or something lower than it was?yuk

I'm sure. The subs and amp are BRAND new

some head units have a selectable output that can either be a subwoofer or a rear channel output. when you lost power the output might have gone back to being a rear channel output instead of a sub woofer output which would cause you to lose bass. go into the settings menu and you should be able to change it back.
