I'm looking for a keyed hot wire under the hood that will support hooking up my LEDs. I had them hooked up to my parking lights but I have to turn on my lights for them to work. I can't hook them up to my daytime running lights because they turn off once my lights turn on. I currently have them hooked up to a green wire that goes towards my windshield wipers but they arent getting enough power. They are about half as bright as they should be. Can anyone direct me to a fuse or wire I can tap into under the hood that is hot when the key is on that has enough power? No fuses in the under hood fuse box are always hot when the key is on.

How much power do the LED's need?  If the Green wire to the wipers is providing
the correct signal ( on with key ) why not use it to operate a relay.  The relays'
coil wouldn't put too much of a load on the Green wire and the relay could be fused
to supply 30 Amps to the LED's.  Wire 30/40 Amp SPDT relay as follows using appropriate
gauge wire :
Relay Pin 86 to Green wire fused at 3 Amps
Relay Pin 85 to chassis ground
Relay Pin 87 to +12V at battery fused @ 30 Amps
Relay Pin 30 to LED's
Relay Pin 87A not used - insulate

Ok, so I wired the relay and I got a bunch of warnings on my dash. The first warning stated low brake fluid and the second stated check vsa. When I get disconnect the relay to the green wire, the warnings go off. Also, even when it was hooked up, the LEDs didn't come on. Any ideas?

Why not connect to the switched wire of the radio? I know it will require running a wire through the firewall, but it sounds much safer than what you did.

Sorry, I don't have any wiring diagrams for your car.  Might be best to connect the relay Pin 86 to an actual Ignition wire instead of that Green wire.  The most direct way would be to run a wire thru the firewall to the ignition switch to tap into the actual Ignition wire ( Blue wire at ignition switch ).  Another possibility -  Is there an engine compartment fuse box?  Use a Digital Multi Meter to find a fuse ( or better yet an empty fuse slot ) that comes on with ignition and use that to control / energize the relay ( Pin 86 ).

I'm trying to avoid going through the firewall. I do have a fuse box under the hood but I have tested every fuse and not one of them runs hot with the key on. Is it possible to run the relay off of negative polarity? I could then tap into a fuse under the hood. Thoughts?

Run the ignition wire,@ the ignition switch, white 5 pin plug, pin 5 the color is blue. Its simple, easy and the best way to do what your doing, try not to take short cuts they only bite you in the butt later.

Sorry people, I would have gone with either the wiper feed, no relay or from the ignition. OP has cut into the loom there, no way could you affect any diagnostics on the ignition constant to the wiper motor.

Yea, the wiper should have an ignition wire going to the motor. Did you test the green wire to be sure it was ignition? Also, LED's draw very little and there should be no problem connecting directly to the correct ignition wire to the wiper motor.
