Hello,
I am installing a 12-volt backup-camera on my car to cover my side blind spots and was told I needed to wire in a diode/1-way power-gate into the circuit (+) to prevent potential power surge damage to the electrical system. I intend to tap into the 12-volt system other than the traditional activation of camera by reverse-light circuit activation. What kind of 12-volt diode/one-way gate am I looking for? Does anyone have any experiences augmenting an automobile with similar electrical accessories requiring this type of modification?
i am an idiot

Are you planning to use the turn signal power supply to power the camera?
