If I am running 2 mtx 9500 15's, in a suv, and want maximum spl, and good frequency response, what sort of box should I use?

With the 9500 you can have good sq and still maintain good spl. They are a really strong driver. Personally I would go with a vented box, one built correctly and to spec. The proper box will make all the difference.

i just built a ported box for one of those subs a few months ago. the box was 3.2 cubic feet and the port was tuned to 35Hz. installed it in the back of a ford ranger and it sounded really nice. i would recommend having a double thick baffle on any box you build for that sub because of the size and weight of the sub woofer.
