Also, if you can get ahold of a compustar and a local place to program it for you, you can use the Blade-AL and it is MUCH easier of a bypass to install. The blade just slides into the brain of the remote start then you connect a few wires to the vehicle and you're done. But you will need someone who can load the firmware on it for you.

I just did a quick search on idatalink and the ADS-DLSL CA2 is a pre-programmed module for a 2012 VW Passat...

Correct, but that is for the Push to Start Passat. My is just the regular key model.

Do you think it is possible that the VW1 firmware would support the 2012 Passat with regular key?

I didn't think the 2012's had the regular key. By regular key do you mean literally the standard metal key that you turn in the ignition? The push to start that they talk about is the key fob that you put into the slot then push the key in to start (instead of turning).
Even if you have the standard turn style key, I really think it will still be the same... but I would check to make sure.

Yes it is a regular metal flip key like the Jetta and other models have used for quite some time. The older generation Passat did use a fob that was inserted into the slot and pushed. The 2012+ has the standard flip key and the top trim has the push button. On the Idatalink site, if you select 2012 Jetta (which offers stand key and push button as well) they actually have a selection for both, but they use different firmware. It shows the standard key Jetta uses firmware DL-VW1 and the push button VW's all use DL-VW5. I guess DL-VW1 firmware just hasn't been tested in the standard key Passat yet which is a bummer because I wanted to get this in before winter. However I'd rather wait than to use some module that is buggy. Thanks again for all of your input with this. I really appreciate it.
