I am working on setting up some new accounts for my new business, and was looking for some insight. When I called the Firstech main guy, he started telling me about these Arctic Start remote starters that are basically rebadged Compustars. But I wanted to see what differences (if any) there are between the 2 brands. I know that the Arctic Starts do not have the blade module ability, but for the price difference, I wouldn't mind using these all in one units (AS-600/601) for the basic remote start, nothing special customers.
Anyone have some extra insight and/or pros and cons to the Arctic Start systems?

they are the same thing as the basic compustar units. The compustar cs601s is identical to the arctic start version. has rs232 plug, but no blade. Need the compustar 6200 for the higher end remote starts.

Do they have the same lifetime module warranty and 1 year remote warranty? Can they still be programmed with the handheld programmer?

OH damn... that was one thing I really loved... lol. But as a basic option for those who just want the most cost effective solution, it will be something I can offer.

Not a fan of the remotes to tell you the truth. Feel a little too cheap in my honest opinion. I have a been a pro dealer for the past 3 years.
BTW i am talking about the entry level systems.

Agree with enice, the remotes aren't up to regular Compustar standards but they do have pretty good range for one-way AM types.  As an entry level system, it is a nice system.  The only negative I've heard was on it's Tachless Mode operation.  Not a big issue, as I always go with a Tach connection.

Soldering is fun!

yeah- i dont like the remotes of the cs 600 4 button,, but the 601s is the same as the rf 1bam. I like the cs601s for dealers. you can also hook up factory remote activation without a relay on that system.

I completely agree... the remotes do feel very cheap. I'm thinking of it as an option for those who just want a basic remote start for cheap. Right now it's tough competing with the big box stores even if I'm cutting down to making only $50 on the install. Those that want quality seem to be ok paying a little more for that quality (both in parts and in installation). It's just those people who want to go as cheap as possible.

Try doing installs in the bronx lol. They have a good alarm/starter pager for a good price. You should inquire about the CS602-AS kit.
