I am trying to follow the process that troublem8ker was outlining in his thread for wiring a cell phone up to a remote start. I have a victim cell phone that have have torn down and the voltage for the vibration motor peaks at about 3-4V. I can't seem to get a reading on the amps the vibration motor pulls. Can anyone recommend to me a relay that can be signaled with 3-4V, but will pass 12V to the remote starter? It would really make my life easier if I could find one that was socketable (and a socket to go with it), to decrease the soldering required (and remove the need for a perfboard). Would something like this work? http://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/G8HE-1A7T-R-DC12/Z3322-ND/2750301. Thanks for any help you can provide.

No. That one wont latch till about 8 volts.
You're looking for a COIL VOLTAGE of about 3VDC.
That relay is used by Mitsubishi cars, it has 30-40 amps power handling!
Try these :-
Omron G6K2P5DC 1amp.
G2RL-1 5DC 12amp.
There are literally hundreds more from other manufacturers.

Thanks for the very quick reply and good recommendation. Is the any good way to wire this "in-line" between the signal line on the remote start, and the contact on the cell phone for the vibrating motor? I assume there's no sort of pre-manufactured socket for something like this? Would I have to use something like a project box with perfboard to safely wire it (like the user did in the other post I referenced)?

Thanks for your help. I found this 4-way relay module on eBay that accepts 3V-15V (needed a 2-3 relays anyway): http://www./itm/271074102396?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649. I'll post back if it works or not. It might be a little more expensive (not much though, only $20), but at least I don't have to solder my own board.
