Not the pump more likely bad tubing or an air leak at the driver's door.

Whenever I had in a VW or Audi or Benz with a door lock not working my first question was "have you had any body work done recently?"

As soon as they said "the driver's door" etc., that's where to look where some fitter hadn't reinstalled the bloody airline.

One more question,

I decided to disable the OEM alarm by unpluging the two plugs at the OEM module. But could this cause any problems related to other systems in the car in the future? If so I will plug them back in.

If the car starts and runs, then no.

Do a vehicle check to confirm.

BTW water ingress often screwed up the pump electrics but usually when they were trunk mounted as in SLs and VW/Audis, leaked in through the trunk/hatch seal or the rear lights. That one under the rear seat shouldn't have that problem but 17 years old......
