Hi i have a viper 5701 alarm and remote start almost finished but cant get the remote engine start to work.
Looking at the manual i have come across somthing with these two wires:
H3/4 VIOLET – Starter output.
This wire hooks up to the starter side of the starter wire in the car. This wire is also pin 30 of the onboard starter kill relay.
H3/5 GREEN – Starter input.
After cutting the starter wire connect the GREEN wire to the end going to the ignition switch. This wire is pin 87a of the onboard starter kill relay.
At the moment i have it wired up were i cut the starter wire and put the violet wire onto the the cut wire going to the key switch and the green wire on the cut starter wire going to the car but no relay attatched in between. But is this the reason why the remote start wont activate because i haven't introduced a relay to the starter wire or is this just a optional feature? Thanks
Here is a picture of how i think it needs wiring up below:

you need to switch those two wires around. purple needs to go to the engine side of the cut starter wire. the green wire is not totally necessary for the car to start, it only is used for the starter kill and anti grind function

Ah right thanks for your reply. Sorry you are right i did wire them the correct way around. So at the moment the the green is attached to the key side so wont cause any concern and also this wouldn't prevent the remote start from engaging? When reading back over the manual i thought i missed a bit as i read it as you need to put a relay in place the cut starter wire and the green wire goes to 87a and the violet goes to pin 30, but the relay is an optional extra?
At the moment i get the red light on the function button and an error tone. When the LED flashes the error code its no. 7 which is turbo mode/timer mode/manual mode error but i have a bitwriter so im going to enable the turbo mode even though i don't know what it is lol, going to enable timer mode to what time? and make sure manual mode is on instead of automatic
thanks

It sounds like manual mode is programmed. Use the bit writer to change it to automatic (only if it is in fact an automatic). No relay is required for the starter wire... it's built into the unit.

yup, vipers need to be programmed for manual or automatic transmission. if its in manual trans mode then its looking for a certain sequence to be performed so that it will start. if you car is an automatic then program as such and you should be good to go.
