need to know what wires is what ..power, ground, remote,constant coming from the car...have a wire harness but the pins dont line up

what colors do you have...red, brown, black, blue wires ..with stripes perhaps?

Red primary is constant power.
Brown ground.
Grey primary illumination if present.
Accessory will be at the cigar lighter in centre console, just lift the gear trim and unclip the ashtray housing. Or glovebox light.
This is a can of worms for the non-expert.
They stopped using an ACC about 99, went CAN data for ACC, illumination.
Fibre optics (2 thick orange wires to control amp and auto changer if present).
They changed from ISO to MOST/Quadlock plugs in approximately 04.
Except there's nothing at the front if it carries a left rear (behind wheel arch) amplifier.
Some of the most plug sets had different speaker pin configuration to every other car manufacturer for instance from approx 05 m/year.
I carry 2 types of Bluetooth kit adaptor, one for Mercedes and a second for some Mercedes plus Ford, Audi, VW, Renault, Peugeot etc.
Then there's the Command Series, different plugs and wiring.
If the original is a single DIN branded sound 10, 20 etc. It will be ISO plugs with a separate ACC, get the interface plug from Metra, Scosche etc. and save lots of time.

GREEN/ red wire
yellow/black wire
blue/white wire

RED / blue wire = 12V constant
brown wire = ground
GREEN/ red wire = ACC if next to brown on the supply plug
yellow/black wire = mute ?
blue/white wire = Illumination
Test all of the above.
This should be an 8 pin plug with a clip to one side

Please note the speaker plug looks similar but the clip is centred.
