I'm trying to find a switched power wire in or near the trunk that I can tap into for some illuminated speakers. Can not find a wiring diagram for the car. The speakers will not function without the power wired and it says to not use the audio wires as a power supply. I'm assuming there is not a switched wire on the tail light harness.

There is a wire at the taillight bulb. It is only hot when the taillight is illuminated. Place a 3 amp fuse at the point you tap into that wire.

And that would work if the speakers only needed the power for illumination. They apparently need a hot wire to run the sound as well along with the audio wires being hooked up.

How many connections are on the speaker?

It has a total of four. 2 audio posts positive and negative and then 2 for the 12 volt power for the speaker. Touching the power side wires to the audio side will make the speaker function as far as audio goes but will not illuminate them and the instructions say not to wire them that way.

What are you installing, EXACTLY? We can't even begin to decipher your puzzle without knowing our ultimate destination.
It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."

Run fresh power from the battery via a fuse & relay (ie - 86 to ACC or switch).
Not only cleaner, but few vehicles have any OEM (dedicated) power up the back - there isn't the need for it. It's different for RVs & 4WDs, vans, campers etc.
