Hey everyone
I drive a 2007 Acura TSX w the following system
165k2p front
165k2p rear w Dayton pro audio 7in midrange
2 DC Sound Lab level 4 12s
JBL MS-8 Sound Processor
Audio Control Matrix 6ch line driver
JL Audio 1200.1HD
JL Audio 600.4HD
Logitech Blietooth Reciever
It's a very high end setup w sq in mind. The problem is the signal. I decided to ditch the hu for an iPad mini molded into the dash and go 100% Bluetooth and I figured the MS8 would handle everything else and it would work perfect. Not the case. In fact I'm pretty disappointed w the MS8. When cranking the volume everything from popping tweeters to losing one side of audio momentarily to very low spl at higher volume. I have put in close to 20 hours of tuning time and still can't get a good balance. When I was younger I used to install and sell car audio so I have a pretty good idea of what I'm doing and what sound I'm after and so far cannot achieve it.
So I'm beginning to think that the old adage of doodiety signal gives doodiety sound is still true. So help me out, I need a good head unit. With manufacturers coming out w all Bluetooth hu like Alpine UTE-42BT are any of them any good?? I need one that is capable of connecting to two devices at once (iPad Mini and IPhone 5) to answer phone calls through thr phone and play music videos through the iPad. But with me still going to school full time I need it to be cash conscientious.
Thanks!

No idea about 2 devices at the same time, you need to research that. But the Alpine CDE-147BT is a serious deck. 9 Band Parametric EQ, Time correction Separate crossovers front and rear. Retails for 200 dollars. At least look at the unit.

I have always been a huge alpine fan and the new hu's have the new 3.0 Bluetooth connection. I contacted them about the UTE-42BT and alpine says that it will only connect to one at a time.
Have you used the unit before? How long does it take to switch devices?

I have sold several of them. I do have one on my display board. Give me a minute.

One device at a time. Does not take long to switch between the 2, but that is going to get aggravating having to disconnect one to connect the other.

With the CDE-143BT you could pair your phone using BT and connect the iPad using the USB input.

Thanks fellas.
I could use the USB but I have the iPad in a float mount design that uses a mix of pressure fit and magnets. I would really like to keep it wireless to keep the clean look.

honestly if you are looking for the best possible sound then there needs to be a wired input (usb, aux jack, etc) i find that any time i use bluetooth for my audio it just sounds bad when you have a nice system, especially when turned up. a high quality system will bring out the flaws in the recording or signal path because they will usually have high sensitivities, same goes with low bit rate MP3 audio or any other compressed audio format, something you have to watch with Itunes because if it isnt set up correctly it will automatically try to compress anything you rip with it so that more can fit on your ipod/pad.

Yes, well, sometimes looks and functionality cannot coexist unless you are willing to spend the big bucks to make it work... me pick my next hu -- posted image.

While that is true I'm hoping to have my cake and eat it too.
I'm aware that Bluetooth is not the best sq choice as compared to a wired connection but I'm sure head units are leaps and bounds better than the Logitech piece I have at the moment.
