issue w/ clifford 2.2 5102x remote

Had this alarm installed for over a year. Never had an issue with it until recently. I replaced the transmitter battery recently and the remote appeared to have lost its programming. No problem. I found the instructions to reprogram and it went ok. However, after a short period of time (maybe 30min), its lost its range. I literally have to stand outside the door point the transmitter at the antenna and it'll lock/unlock. Obviously I lost that 1 mile range. Heck, I lost 3 foot range. Also, when it does lock now, I get an additional chirp. Any ideas? Any help would be appreciated.

Sorry, I have a 2009 Subaru Forester 2.5x model (5spd) and the alarm is a Clifford 2.2, but has another model number (5102x).

I don't have a solution for you but I had the same problem with a Python 1401 system which uses essentially the same remote. I bought a used clifford 5102x setup on eBay for $15 with the hopes of its remotes working and they were junk too. Surprisingly one of the remotes only works if you just hold the circuit board and press the buttons. Once the case goes back on I get nothing but a faint blink of the LED. It's very peculiar. I now have 4 useless remotes. I don't know what is wrong with them but the brand new Viper 7153 replacement remote I bought programmed immediately and works better than my python remote ever did (I bought the system refurbished and installed myself). I used to have to push the buttons hard on my old remotes, but the new one I barely press the button and the truck responds. Hopefully one of the experts will have a fix for you.

My second remote does the same exact thing! Works outside of the case, but I get a faint glimmer of a LED light in the case. Like it has a loose solder or something. Weird.2009 Subaru Forester 2.5x (5spd)

Let me also add that the alarm functions fine so I don't think it's the brain. I initially thought that maybe the antenna is faulty, but I have SmartStart and that (I'm assuming) is working fine, too. Locks/unlocks/starts with no issues. I tried disconnecting the battery for about 10 minutes, but that didn't solve my problem either. Should I try to erasing the remotes that are programmed with the brain and then reprogramming it?2009 Subaru Forester 2.5x (5spd)

So did more troubleshooting. It appears whatever range I had left is no more. Even with the with remote touching the antenna, I cannot get it to do anything. I wiped all remotes from the brain and reprogrammed the remote. Works great, but about 1/2 hour later, it appears to lose its configuration. Not sure if its on the remote end or the brain end. I also purchased a new antenna, but that did not resolve my issue either. My installer is suggesting new remotes or a new brain. The cost of two new remotes is almost as much as a new alarm. I just don't want to pay for the install again. Are the wiring connectors universal? Meaning, if I buy a newer Clifford alarm, will all the connections still plug in? Secondly, the installation manual says it applies to: Viper 5601 Clifford 2.2 (the one I have) Python 1601 Does that mean the brain is the same for all three of these models?
