Hey saviors!

I have a 1999 Toyota Camry 4 cyl.  No immobilizer, no factory alorm or keyless and no radio theft deterent.  I have everything figured out and thanks to other posts I found the tach wire at the grey connector at the ignition coil by the distributor.  Here is my question.I bought a Digital Multi meter.

Here is the AC info on it:Range 200V - 750V,Resolution 100mv - 1V,Accuracy+-(1.2%fdr. +10dgts.)

When I set it at the 200 setting and ground the common and probe the tach wire I get a reading of .5.  when I turn the throttle(it is right there under the hood)  it spikes to 1.5.  Eveywhere I read it is supposeed to be around 1 - 6 V AC before reving.

Do I have a crappy Multimeter and the right wire or am I reading the readout wrong or do I have the wrong wire?

I think you are fine. Try to use that. Got the same voltage on a Pontiac but it worked.
What alarm system you have ?
