Hello all...
I have a pair of RE Audio 10" D4 subs that I plan on putting into my truck.
I am going to wire them down to 1 ohm, and I found two mono Rockford amps that are 1 ohm stable.
They are the P1000-1BD & R1200-1D.
I am confused, because the P1000 is more money - but less wattage. Does anyone have any idea what the difference is between these two amps? Any info would be greatly appreciated!!

I am not familiar with the r1200 or any of the r series amplifiers. I can tell you the differences of Rockford amplifiers from the past. Years ago, they came out with a line of amplifiers and called them Series One products. These amplifiers were of much lower quality than their Punch and Power series amplifiers. They used cheaper circuit boards and cheaper ways of mounting transistors to the heat sink. These amplifiers were of better quality than a lot of the stuff that was out there at that time, but by far not the quality true Rockford fans were looking for. I can only guess that the R series amp you speak of is another attempt for them to offer you a less than satisfactory amplifier to put more money in their pocket.

quality, plain and simple. the R series is rockfords lowest line. the difference between the amps will be how clean their output is and the other features of the amp like the selectable/adjustable crossover filters, perhaps bass boost, and the quality of the materials and components that the amp is made from. just because their power is almost the same you still ultimately get what you pay for.
