Proximity is .200" and perfectly aligned. Thinking about now I think moisture is the only explanation. Moisture sure causes havoc on aircraft components which is my field. (Fuel quantity capacitance probes and conditioning units, pressure transducers, Proximity sensors, Avionics etc..)
What is your thoughts on using a pin switch for my tail gait instead?

Do you have access to the prox switch datasheet? I have seen some that are supposed to be installed offset from each other a bit and I have also seen a wide range of mins and maxes for distance.

No I don't. It was a generic mag switch I purchased off e-bay. I use to purchase in the day locally from Radio Shack but they no longer sell magnetic switches for alarm applications. Should I try shimming one of the components closer?

I can purchase and easily change with replacement. Suggestions and where I can purchase if it does it again?
