if he has the doors locked you will. as far as the door popper, just look at the mech. in the door. operate the inside handle and watch what moves. make sure you hook up to the right parts.. also i would leave the pass. window down while working on this car.. it might be a good idea to have a way in incase the door doesnt pop open...Good Luck

I shaved the handles on my Blazer. The truck had power locks. I removed the actuators and installed some Auto-Loc actuators and a pair of door poppers. I didn't see a real need for door locks since there were no handles on the doors. Make sure you use the door poppers. Without them, my doors would only pop open about a half an inch. Then after a second when the actuator released the door pin caught on the latch and was locked. Good luck.

I've done door poppers on several vehicles. In one, I hooked up actuators to unlock the doors when the alarm is disarmed, then you could pop the door open. Every other car I did, I disengaged the lock rod from the lock. You could not lock the door at all, because as soon as the door is shut, you cant open it without the remote(just like popping a trunk). The only drawback about disengaging the locks is that the door can be inadvertently be opened if you accidently press the button while your keys are in your pocket or something like that. The actuators locking the doors insures that they will not pop open unless you first disarm the alarm.

Also, if the car has power windows, its a good idea to install a window roll down module if the alarm has enough channels for it. That way, if your poppers ever blow a fuse, or if for any other reason they qwit working, you can just roll down the windows to gain entry to the vehicle.

Also, I don't think anyone mentioned this, a standard trunk pop solieniod will not pull enough to open the door. If it is dei then it is only rated at 12lbs. I would recommend at least a 35 lb solienoid. Also if it is dei and there is an issue with locks, you can add the actuators and then program the alarm for progressive locks so that the first push of unlock/disarm will unlock the doors and the second push will open the drivers door.Certified Security Specialist
