No the lights immediately shut off after it fails to start

Are your connections soldered, crimped or scotch locked? Sounds like a loose connection to me.

Soldered with heat shrink. Do you think its the starter wire loose or can any random wire cause the problem?

Found the problem. It was a bad ground. Thank you everyone for your ideas.
