I have a 1992 Camaro Z28 with an aftermarket VIPER 9502 that was installed.
A few months after it was installed I noticed a problem that was intermediate.
Whenever I wold REMOTE START the car, it usually would work however every so often it would NOT make any starting sound. If I got in the car but turning off the alarm (unlock), and put in the KEY to try, the "Security" light would come on. And I would have to wait around 10 minutes before trying again and it would ALWAYS work with the key.
If I remote start the car and it happens to NOT work, I get into the car, and WAIT before putting in the key to try using the ignition, I can usually wait around 4-5 minutes.
The more times I try using the car, or remote start BEFORE the time (which is unknown) runs out then it seems to ADD more delay.
To me this sounds EXACTLY like the PASSKEY is being tripped as if you used the wrong resistance chip key.
I waited and tried experimenting for approx. 8 months between REMOTE starting and just turning off the alarm (UNLOCK) and using the key (WITHOUT REMOTE STARTING BEFORE HAND) and I have *NEVER* had any problems.
So it seems it's a problem with something tripping the GM PASSKEY "Security" system.
What could be the reason? Is it something I can do or do I HAVE to take it back to the alarm shop because it is VERY difficult to get time off and to get an appointment at this shop. They are very busy, highly accredited installers that even do exotic cars.

I meant to say that if I DON'T remote start it and only turn off the alarm (Unlock) and just use the key are normally, it has ALWAYS worked.
However if I REMOTE START it it's a 50/50 chances it WON'T work and trip the Passkey.

Sounds like a VATS immobilizer (similar to PASSKEY) issue to me as well. In the downloads section of the site search "VATS" and there is a diagram that shows how the VATS is bypassed. I guess from seeing that, you'll know if its something you wanna tackle or not.
I drink current, eat ohms, and bleed voltage
